BARNSLEY NEXT

In their next Championship match, Brighton & Hove Albion will be up against Barnsley FC.

This match is quite important for both the teams for different reasons. A win for Brighton would boost their chances of making it to the play offs, while, a win for Barnsley would help them in getting themselves into a safer position in the table.

As far as the current positions of these two sides are concerned, Brighton is at no. 9 in the table with 57 points in 39 matches. Barnsley has played one match lesser, but, their points’ tally is showing only 35 and that’s not impressive.

However, there have been signs of improvement in Barnsley’s performances in the recent past. They have won their last two matches consecutively and they would be pretty determined to make it 3 in a row.

It would not be as easy as it sounds though. Yes, Barnsley will have a lot of home support, but, they have to counter an opposition which possesses a lot of quality.

Brighton hasn’t played particularly well in their last few games and that has certainly put brakes on their cruise to the play offs. They would have the idea that if they go winless for another few matches, playoffs qualification would become out of reach pretty quickly and thus, they would be eagerly looking for a win on Saturday.

There might be a change or two in the Brighton starting XI, but, the Barnsley manager is expected to go with the same guys who had started in the match against Yeovil.

When Barnsley and Brighton had met last, the former had secured a 2-1 victory. So, it would be an avenge opportunity too for the Seagulls who are probably the favourites in this encounter.
