POYET EXPECTS

The Brighton and Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has said that he expects his side to improving the next few games. Despite having enjoyed a 3-1 win over the current European champions Chelsea in a pre-season friendly match, Brighton have struggled to score goals in the three games played so far. Brighton were expected to be one of the contenders for the promotion spot, but this poor run of form has really put that in jeopardy. The manager Gus Poyet, though, is staying confident that his side will be able to get over this poor run of form in front of goal to score lots of goals in the remaining matches.

Since the 3-1 win over Chelsea in the pre-season friendly match, Brighton and Hove Albion have scored only one match and that too came in the friendly match against Reading. They have played in the three Championship matches so far without success in front of goal. Consequently, they have lost the two matches and drawn one match. Speaking after the 0-0 draw with Cardiff city during the weekend, Gus Poyet said that he was confident that his strikers will be able to find the back of the net in the forthcoming matches.

“The players need to keep believing. I feel for them but we need to remain positive through this. People thought we were the best side in the world in pre-season when we beat Chelsea, but the fact is that we haven’t won in three games,” said Gus Poyet after the match. Brighton and Hove Albion will be facing the likes of Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall in the next few matches. As a result, it certainly will not be easy to score goals, but they need to find the back of the net in order to prevent the promotion aspirations from vanishing.
